Privacy policy

Last updated 12 August 2026.

The short version

dishscale has no accounts, no login and no database. You do not give it your name or your email to use it. Everything you type into the converter, the temperature tab or the recipe scaler is held in your browser for as long as the page is open and is never sent anywhere. Closing the tab discards it.

What is collected

Two measurement tools run on every page, both from Vercel, which hosts the site:

  • Vercel Web Analytics counts page views. It records which page was viewed, the referring site, and a coarse device type and country. It does not set cookies and does not follow you between sites.
  • Vercel Speed Insights records how quickly pages load and respond, so slow pages can be found and fixed. It collects performance timings, not personal details.

Vercel also keeps standard server request logs, which include IP addresses, for a limited period. Vercel's own handling of that data is covered by its privacy policy.

Advertising and third-party cookies

dishscale is not currently showing ads. It is intended to carry advertising served through Google AdSense, and this section describes how that works so it is disclosed before rather than after the fact.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or to other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices.
  • Google's own description of how it uses data from sites that run its ads is at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

What is not collected

No accounts, no email addresses, no conversion history, no recipes. Nothing you enter is stored on a server or in your browser between visits. There is no newsletter and nothing is sold or shared for marketing.

Children

dishscale is a general-audience cooking tool and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from them — it does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes — a new vendor, ads going live, anything that starts collecting something this page says is not collected — will be described here rather than quietly folded in.
